Committed to investing in our team: celebrating our latest housing graduates

26 October 2016

We’re celebrating this month as 22 members of our team recently completed their Level 3 and Level 4 certificates in Housing Practice, qualifications offered by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH).

The professional accreditation provides a broader knowledge and understanding of key areas in delivering housing services, and includes modules such as ‘Equality and Diversity in Housing’ and ‘Delivery of Affordable Housing Services’.

Awardees received their certificates at our celebration ceremony today. The event was attended by other colleagues, CIH course tutor Lynn Thompson, and our Chief Executive Nick Horne.

James Ballantyne is our Customer Contact Team Leader, and one of the group completing the course. James said: “The course has furthered my housing knowledge and an understanding of what a housing professional looks like. Time spent with my colleagues understanding what they do was extremely valuable, and it’s allowed me to lead my team from a place of knowledge.”

Supported Housing Officer, Louise Andrews, has worked with us for nearly ten years. Louise said: “The course is a fabulous opportunity to update your skills. It’s also great to find out about other roles in housing, and what other housing providers offer.”

Beth Pollard is our Home Ownership Administrator, and previously worked as part of the housing team at North Somerset Council. Beth said: “I really enjoyed the course and it’s helped build my confidence in my own role.”

Nick Horne, our Chief Executive, added: “We actively encourage our teams to develop their knowledge of the housing sector, not only to further their own careers but to ensure we deliver the best possible service to our customers. Investing in our staff is an important part of what we do and we’re proud of this group’s achievements.”

“It was great to witness the enthusiasm of those who completed the course and I’m confident that this year’s cohort will do just as well.”
