We’re teaming up with Frome Active for Sports Festival 2016

30 March 2016

We’ve joined up with Frome Active for this year’s Sports Festival in Frome.

The Festival will take place on Sunday 10 April, with free activities and sports on offer at Frome Football Club, Selwood School and Victoria Park.

There’ll be a range of taster sessions available to take part in for free. People will also be able to sign up for free and low cost memberships to local sports groups.

Activities on offer will include swimming, tennis, archery, gym sessions and self-defence classes.

We’ll also be launching our “Creating Active Communities” programme in Frome on the same day. Amongst other activities, there’ll be running, walking, football, rugby and archery sessions in Victoria Park.

The Creating Active Communities programme, which has received National Lottery funding from Sport England, helps people of all ages take part in fun and healthy activities.

We and our partners have already established a number of successful community sports groups in Taunton, Yeovil and Minehead with over 500 individuals taking part in activities.

Jane Edmonds, our Assistant Director, said: “Along with our partners, we’re making a real difference to participation in sports and activities across Somerset. Over the next 18 months, we’ll be working hard to ensure that communities in Frome have access to sport in their area.”
