We’ve scooped the “Business in the Community” award for our work in North Somerset
We were awarded the “Business in the Community” award at the Business Leader awards last night.
The award recognises our commitment to, and investment in, North Somerset and its communities.
We’re committed to North Somerset, building new homes to meet local housing need. In 2014/15 we invested £15.75m, completing 98 homes. We’ll complete another 63 this year.
However, our contribution goes beyond bricks and mortar. Through supply chains we secure the jobs of hundreds of people and our social impact reaches even further.
We offer short-term accommodation to 46 vulnerable young adults in North Somerset each year. We also invest £2m every year in our Individual and Community Empowerment Service.
Mike Day, our Director of Development and Home Ownership, collected the award. Mike said, “North Somerset is our home. We have strong roots here and are proud to be trailblazers in the Weston Gateway Business Park area.
We’re committed to working in partnership with other local organisations like the Police, Weston College, debt advice agencies and community groups, to achieve the best outcomes for our communities.”
This year, we were awarded an enhanced level Employability Chartermark for Business, for our investment in, and delivery of, work-readiness in young people, and received a Social Value Chartermark in recognition of our ways of working to secure long-term sustainability and benefit the wider community.
