We join Bouygues UK to bury time capsule with local school pupils
We joined Bouygues UK and pupils from Priorswood Primary School in Taunton to bury a time capsule at Victoria Gate on Friday 16 May.
45 pupils from years 3 and 4 put together items to go into a time capsule, to show what life is like in 2014. The pupils are studying ‘Time’ as part of their curriculum.
Representatives from Bouygues UK gave a presentation to the children about what a time capsule is, and set them the task of finding things that represent 2014. The contents included items from the school and magazine articles about fashion and house types. 28 pupils also created some pieces about themselves.
The time capsule burial took place on site at Victoria Gate, where 64 new homes are currently being built. A second phase of 43 homes is due to be completed by the start of 2015.
Four pupils joined our Development Manager, Jonathan Thornton, and Board Member Jacqui Cross, and Bouygues UK's Jackie Kelly, Community Engagement Coordinator and Rob Insa-Stevens, Site Manager, to bury the capsule under plot number 4.
Wendy Lewis, our Regional Development Manager, said, ‘As the developer at Victoria Gate, it’s great for Knightstone to be able to attend events such as these, where we continue to strengthen our relationships with the local community.
Victoria Gate will provide much needed energy efficient, modern, affordable homes.'
Another visit to the site is planned for later in year, for the pupils to come back and see what’s been built where their time capsule is buried.
