Knightstone collect over 200 items for foodbanks
We've collected more than 200 items over the Christmas period to donate to the foodbank in the centre of Weston-super-Mare.
Our Individual Empowerment Officer, Kim Mulhall, came up with the idea, as an alternative to sending Christmas cards to colleagues.
Employees donated items such as powdered milk, tinned vegetables, spaghetti, tinned fruit, tea and coffee, tinned meat, pasta sauces, rice, noodles, jam, cereals and biscuits.
Vicky James, Individual Empowerment Team Manager said, ‘Our Individual Empowerment Team refers residents who are in particular need to services such as foodbanks all year round.
We thought it would be nice to give something back to them, especially during the cold winter time when there is extra demands on their services.”
The collected items will be donated to the foodbank next week. Due to the success of this collection, the team have decided to hold a bi-montly collection, donating to a different foodbank every time, eventually covering all of our operational area across Somerset and the West of England.
