Westford Grange Dreamscheme donates to local foodbank

30 May 2014

As part of the ‘Dreamscheme’ project at Westford Grange, young people have worked together to collect much needed donations for the local Wellington foodbank.

The group collected the items and made up food parcels which they decorated before donating them to the foodbank for members of the local community to access.

The Dreamscheme project, which we help to run along with Avon & Somerset Constabulary, encourages young people to carry out community based work projects for which they earn points. These can then be exchanged for trips and activities of their choice. Lots of community projects have taken place at Westford Grange to benefit the immediate and local communities.

The young people also took part in a litter pick in their local community with the help of Taunton Deane Borough Council, who provided the equipment and collected the large number of full bin bags.

Jane Edmonds, Assistant Director said “We’re really pleased with the ongoing success of our Dreamscheme at Westford Grange. It’s great to see young people getting involved in the project and making such a positive contribution to their local community.”

Plans are underway for more ‘Dreamscheme’ community activities to take place over the summer holidays.
