Residents clean up Bristol estates

17/06/2010
Residents of Mulberry Gardens and The Crescent took part in a community day earlier this month.

Residents and young people cared for their local area by clearing items from their homes and gardens. As a reward for their hard work there was a buffet lunch held in the afternoon, followed by an artwork session run by Appleton Arts for the children.

The children were also given the chance pick a World Cup Team from a hat. They were then given tasks to gather information about their chosen country to win a goody bag. They carried out their own research in small groups to produce fact sheets of their World Cup team. Knightstone will be issuing a prize for the family of the winning team of the World Cup at the end of the tournament.

The event was organised by Knightstone Housing Association to encourage people to work together in their community and to improve communications between residents, Knightstone staff and the Police. PC Simon Broad and PCSO Michael Holton of Avon and Somerset Constabulary also took an active part in the event.

Vishal Mall, who works within Knightstone’s Nuisance Prevention Team said: “In 2009 there were a number of anti social behaviour issues between some residents. This was a great event to bring residents together and improve communication for everyone involved. I can now only see things improving for the community.”
